“Past Dug out of the Earth”, “Grey as Earth, Colorful as Memory” – the titles of exhibitions clearly indicate what we can expect when visiting the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology in Lodz. The collection of the museum principally consists of the works of men. The institution gathers exhibits related to the history of the region (archeological artifacts from the Roman era and early middle Ages) and folk culture and ethnography of the Lodz region. It possesses a rich collection of numismatic items displayed on a permanent exhibition and an interesting exhibition of folk customs. Apart from the collection documenting the ancient history and folk culture of our country, the institution also has exhibits from Africa, America, and Asia.
It is a perfect option for the fans of archeology and ethnography, but also for all those who want to get the “tangible” experience of the climate of the old Lodz countryside and learn a bit about the ancient history of the region.
