Łódź with dog

The city of Łódź is becoming more and more attractive for tourists. Pet-friendly places are becoming a growing product in this area. Tourists often look for facilities they can visit with their dogs. After all, they are man's best friends. Some owners cannot imagine spending their leisure time nicely while their pet is left alone at home.
In response to the lack of a reliable collection of accommodation, dining and entertainment facilities friendly to dogs, I decided to personally verify which places are worth visiting. The article is addressed to owners who would like to go on a trip with their dogs, but have no idea which places they can choose.

I recommend starting every visit to Lodz, especially with a dog, with a visit to the Tourist Information Office.

There, the staff will be happy to help you plan your free time and adapt the offer to your requirements and time available. At the Information Point you can buy souvenirs from Lodz. A bowl of water is also available and all dogs are very welcome. (28 Piotrkowska Street)

The newest attraction available in Lodz is the Million Lights Park. It's a perfect proposal for long autumn and winter walks with your pets. During the day you can stroll through Park Źródliska free of chargé. While the entrance to the evening show, which starting at 17:00 every day, is ticketed. The beautiful light installation Alice in Wonderland delights children and parents. You can visit it in the company of your pet, meeting only the conditions arising from the rules of the Million Lights Park. Dogs are allowed in the Park when muzzled and on a leash. Bringing other animals into the exhibition area requires the organizer's permission. Among the most popular attractions in Lodz, which you can visit with your dog, we distinguish:

• Księży Młyn [Prince's Mill] – A unique testimony to the nineteenth century industrial revolution, once a housing estate inhabited by factory workers, now an urban complex of red bricks, is an ideal proposal for a walk with your dog.
• Pasaż Róży [Rose's Passage] - A unique courtyard of a Łódź tenement house covered with pieces of mirrors is one of the most important tourist attractions in Łódź. (3 Piotrkowska Street)
• Narodziny Dnia [The Birth of a Day] - Artistic installation by Wojciech Siudmak, decorating facades of buildings created from his works such as "Birds in Paradise" and "The Birth of a Day" depicting a fairy-tale fantasy world. The paintings were transferred onto the walls using an innovative technique, on over two hundred ceramic plates. (4 Więckowskiego St.)
• Muzeum Farmacji [Pharmacy Museum] - Located in a historic bourgeois tenement house, where the interior of a pharmacy from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries has been recreated. (2 Wolności Square)
• Manufaktura i Muzeum Fabryki [Manufaktura i Museum of Factory] – The cultural and entertainment center was established on the premises of the former factory of Izrael Poznanski in Lodz, one of the largest factory owners in Lodz. It is characterized by the variety of points located on its premises - restaurants, pubs, cinema, theater and museums. The Factory Museum, located on the Manufaktura premises, presents the history of the textile plants of Izrael Poznanski and can be visited with pets. Free movement with a dog in Manufaktura refers to the so-called common areas of the shopping mall and most stores, which have special stickers with information "Here you can enter with a dog". You can also go with your pet to many restaurants on the market. In Centrum Manufaktura, all dogs are welcome. Of course, in accordance with the rules of safety and social life: pets must be on a leash and muzzled. The smallest ones can also shop on their owners' hands. (Drewnowska Street 58)
• Port Łódź - In the outer area of the Centre, a professional training zone was created, where owners of dogs can spend their time actively with their charges, free of charge, all year round. Port Łódź made it possible to enter the building with the pet. According to the Rules and Regulations, each four-legged visitor to the Centre must be on a leash and muzzled, and if a muzzle is not required, the dog must be carried by hand or in a special carrier. Doggy accident bags can be picked up free of charge at the Information Desk at the IKEA store. Entering individual stores with a dog is a matter of individual decision of each tenant. Locations where dogs are welcome are marked with a special sticker. You can also bring your pet to the restaurant area. Especially for dog owners, who want to eat a meal in the company of their four-legged friend, the food court has a dedicated section for them. After shopping, we encourage you to use the dog playground located in the recreation area of the Center, behind the IKEA store, and we invite you to the Kakadu store to get treats for your pet. • Art_Inkubator w Fabryce Sztuki [Art_Inkubator at Art Factory] - This is a space dedicated to art, with periodic exhibitions and thematic events. To meet the needs, Fabryka Sztuki in Łódź introduced rules of entry to the institution for people with animals. Dogs are welcome on the premises of the Factory of Art. Please remember about the rules described in the regulation. It is recommended to check if it is allowed to come to the event or classes with a dog. For the sake of the animals, their presence on the grounds during organized concerts is not advisable. Dogs may only be brought into the venue on a leash. (Tymienieckiego Street 3)
• Kino Bodo [Bodo Cinma] - Cinema with a dog? The cosy Bodo cinema in Łódź offers such an opportunity. A place with an ambitious repertoire, friendly atmosphere, a possibility to rent a room and organize events. (78/80 Revolution 1905 Street)
• Centrum Dialogu [Dialogue Centre] - It is possible to enter the institution with a dog in the exhibition part, but not in the auditorium. In front of the building there is a bowl with water for the dog. (Wojska Polskiego St. 83)
• Ogród Pałacu Herbsta [Herbst Palace Garden] - According to the regulations it is forbidden to bring animals into the exhibition halls. With the exception of guide and assistance dogs for people with disabilities. However, it is possible to enter the museum lobby with a dog, to Alegoria Café and to Herbst Palace garden under clearly defined rules. Dogs can only be accompanied by an adult person and must be kept on a leash. The owner of the dog takes all responsibility, including for any damage. No dogs are allowed in classes where there is a large number of visitors, the museum may also restrict entry in other exceptional circumstances. It is forbidden to bring in dogs which show aggressive behaviour towards people. (72 Przędzalniana Street)
• Łódź Bajkowa [Fairytale Trail of Lodz] - When in Lodz, you can choose to visit the Fairytale Lodz trail with children, with a dog or the whole family. Personally, I decided to walk the trail with my dog and children. Monuments of characters from the fairy tales of Lodz Se-ma-fora are usually located in parks, or areas where there is not much car traffic. On Piotrkowska Street, you can find the statue of Teddy Bear Uszatek, next to the Museum of Cinematography you can meet Filemon and Boniface, at the entrance to the Palm House - a sparrow Æwirk, two forest folk Maurycy and Hawranek - in the largest park in Lodz, Na Zdrowiu, right at the entrance to the Zoological Garden, and at the entrance to the Aquapark Fala - Pik-Pok the penguin. I recommend driving to some of the spots. Although most of them are close enough to each other that you just need to spend one nice afternoon collecting stamps, walking from point to point. After completing the field game you can collect the "Fairy Tale Łódź" badge certified by the Polish Tourist Society. The badges and booklets to collect stamps can be found at the Tourist Information Centre at 28 Piotrkowska Street.
• Szkakiem Łódzkich Murali (Street Art of Łódź) - The largest outdoor gallery in Poland. The map of Łódź Street Art is available to download on lodz.travel. New works of art are constantly appearing. Three walls of the Łódź "Manhattan", i.e. 24 floors, are now covered with the largest mural in Poland and one of the largest in the world. The mural, which was unveiled in October, is over 70 meters high and depicts the image of "The Witcher", the hero from Andrzej Sapkowski's novel. The completed project can be admired at 182 Piotrkowska Street.

Most catering outlets in Lodz are very friendly to the presence of dogs in their premises. Usually you can even count on the staff to serve a bowl of water for your pet. They will also help you choose an appropriate table, if possible, so that the dog's presence is not a nuisance to other guests and so that the dog feels comfortable. A pet-friendly pub is e.g. Chmielowa Dolina (123 Piotrkowska Street), so you can visit it with your dog. The bartenders will always give the dog a bowl of water. Dogs should be accompanied by their owners on a leash. Piwoteka Narodowa (4 Traugutta Street) informs about the same. The pub is still under renovation and will be open in January/February 2022. For a thirsty evening I recommend three more pubs, i.e. Niebostan (17 Piotrkowska Street), Pop'n'Art (6 Wolności Square) and Z innej Beczka (6 Moniuszki Street). As far as pets are concerned, all catering establishments located in Monopolis complex (Kopcińskiego Street 60/62) are pet friendly. In each of them your pet will be offered a bowl of water. Additionally, in Arteria restaurant every dog is offered "dog beer". The revitalized office and service complex with a developed gastronomic and cultural offer invites you to restaurants, cafes and bakeries, and tourists without four-legged companions also to the theater, art gallery and museum. The Quale Restaurant (48 Narutowicza Street) accepts animals, not only dogs, provided they are of a calm disposition. The animal must be in a special cage or on a leash and sit relatively quietly next to its owner. It must not react nervously to restaurant staff or guests. The animal must be clean, dry and well-groomed. Below is a list of the most common other friendly restaurants:

Turystom zainteresowanym noclegiem w Łodzi, pragniemy przypomnieć, iż w niektórych obiektach trzeba liczyć się, że nocleg z pieskiem będzie wiązał się z dodatkową opłatą. Warto zapoznać się z regulaminem obiektu lub skonsultować się z recepcjonistą podczas dokonywania rezerwacji. Psiarzom proponuję możliwości noclegu w obiektach takich jak:

• Boutique Hotel's – We wszystkich obiektach noclegowych z sieci CFI zwierzęta domowe są akceptowane. Opłata dodatkowa to ok 50-70 PLN / dobę. (I. ul. Milionowa 25, II. ul. Rewolucji 1905 roku 8, III. ul. Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego 10/14, Boutique Hostel ul. Stefanowskiego 17)
• DoubleTree by Hilton Łódź – Hotel jest miejscem przyjaznym zwierzętom. Można przyjechać do obiektu ze swoim pupilem. Za pobyt pobierana jest jednorazowa opłata w wysokości 50 PLN. Na życzenie gościa udostępniana jest miska i legowisko w pokoju. Co więcej, w recepcji można pobrać specjalną zawieszkę na drzwi informującą obsługę hotelu o futrzastym gościu w pokoju. Hotel znajduje się naprzeciwko Parku Poniatowskiego co będzie dodatkowym atutem tej lokalizacji w porze spaceru. (ul. Łąkowa 29)
• Fabryka Wełny – Hotel & SPA – W obiekcie tym również można nocować z psem. Opłata za zwierzę wynosi 50 PLN / dobę. Tutaj na każdego pupila czeka w pokoju miska świeżej wody i smakołyk na powitanie. (ul. Zamkowa 2, Pabianice)

• Hostelik Wiktoriański - Posiada możliwość skorzystania z noclegu w towarzystwie pupila. Nocleg wówczas jest obarczony dodatkowymi zasadami. Pobierana jest jednorazowa opłata dodatkowa, w wysokości 40 PLN, związana z rozszerzonym serwisem sanitarnym po wyjeździe gości nocujących z psiakiem. Opłata jest jednorazowa, czyli stała bez względu czy goście zatrzymują się na jedną noc, czy na tydzień. Pies nie może być pozostawiany sam w pokoju bez opieki właścicieli. Aby zapewnić bezpieczeństwo i komfort pozostałym gościom, jeżeli to konieczne pies musi być ubrany w kaganiec i smycz, kiedy goście przebywają z nim w częściach wspólnych obiektu. Jeżeli piesek jest miniaturowy czy o łagodnym usposobieniu to odstępujemy od tego rodzaju praktyk i wymogów. Właściciele ponosi pełną odpowiedzialność materialną za szkody wyrządzone przez czworonoga - dotyczy to także tych ujawnionych po wyjeździe gości.

• Hotel Boss*** - Hotel przyjazny zwierzętom. Koszt dodatkowy za zwierzę to 30 PLN / dobę. (ul. Tatrzańska 11)
• Hotel Tobaco – Obiekt przyjaźnie nastawiony dla psów. Opłata dodatkowa za zwierzątko to 30 PLN / dobę. Na wyposażeniu pokoju są zawieszki „Moje zwierzę jest w pokoju”. Do pokoi z tą zawieszką na drzwiach, personel z działu housekeepingu nie wchodzi.
• Ibis Łódź Centrum - Wszystkie zwierzaki są tutaj mile widziane. Dodatkowy koszt pupila to 20 PLN / dobę. (al. Piłsudskiego 11)
• Novotel Łódź Centrum – Tutaj również można skorzystać z noclegu w towarzystwie włochatego przyjaciela. Dodatkowa opłata wynosi 30 PLN / dobę. (al. Piłsudskiego 11a) 
• PURO Hotel Łódź Centrum (ul. Ogrodowa 16) – Wszyscy pracownicy obiektu są zwierzolubni, więc wszystkie zwierzaki są bardzo mile widziane. Zwierzęta mogą przebywać na terenie hotelu bezpłatnie. Aby umilić im czas spędzony w hotelu, w pokojach można znaleźć wstawione przez obsługę obrandowane miseczki, które goście mogą kupić jako pamiątkę po pobycie w PURO. Właściciel zwierzęcia jest proszony o trzymanie go w taki sposób, aby nie stanowił zagrożenia dla innych Gości i personelu. Zgodnie z informacją zawartą w regulaminie obiektu gość ma obowiązek usunąć wszelkie nieczystości pozostawione przez zwierzę na terenie hotelu. Jeżeli z powodu obecności zwierzęcia w hotelu powstanie konieczność dodatkowego czyszczenia pokoju lub innych pomieszczeń hotelowych wówczas Gość zobowiązany jest do pokrycia kosztów takiego sprzątania. Z uwagi na bezpieczeństwo obsługi oraz Gości hotelu, Goście podróżujący wraz ze zwierzętami są zobowiązani do poinformowania o tym fakcie obsługę hotelu na etapie składania rezerwacji. Jeśli informacja taka nie została przedstawiona na etapie rezerwacji, należy poinformować recepcję hotelu podczas zameldowania. Hotel zastrzega sobie prawo do odmowy zameldowania Gościa podróżującego ze zwierzęciem, jeżeli obecność zwierzęcia może naruszać bezpieczeństwo obsługi bądź Gości hotelu.
• Vienna House Andel’s Lodz - Zwierzęta są tutaj mile widzialne. Opłata za pupila wynosi 68 PLN / dobę. Zgoda na pobyt zwierzęcia domowego jest udzielana pod warunkiem, że zwierzę będzie znajdowało się pod stałą opieką Gościa, nie ma żadnych chorób i nie stwarza żadnego zagrożenia wobec osób trzecich. (ul. Ogrodowa 17)

Podczas podróżowania ze swoim pupilem pamiętajmy, że najważniejszy jest jego komfort, samopoczucie i bezpieczeństwo. Psy najlepiej czują się na świeżym powietrzu, na spacerze, podczas aktywnej zabawy. Zdarzają się sytuacje, kiedy psa nie możemy zostawić samego w domu lub nasz przyjaciel akurat podróżuje z nami. Nie zostawiajmy swoich pupili samych w autach, nie przywiązujmy ich też do słupów i nie zostawiajmy bez opieki w centrum miasta. Artykuł ten dedykowany jest dla właścicieli psów, które dobrze czują się w miejscach publicznych. Jeśli zwierzę będzie przeszkadzało innym użytkownikom obiektu, właściciel może zostać poproszony przez pracowników lokalu o wyjście. Nawet najbardziej towarzyskiemu i dziarskiemu psu może panująca aura w danym miejscu nie odpowiadać. Obserwujmy jego zachowanie. Jeżeli zauważymy któreś z oznak świadczących o tym, że pies się stresuje – jak oblizywanie się, podkulanie ogona, kładzenie uszu po sobie, dreszcze, skomlenie, lub gdy pies będzie zbytnio pobudzony, będzie szczekać lub warczeć – zdecydujmy się na opuszczanie lokalu. Jeśli decydujemy się spędzać z nim czas, w wyżej wymienionych miejscach, nie bądźmy samolubni. Kierujmy się dobrem zwierzęcia, jak i komfortem oraz bezpieczeństwem innych gości.
