Lodz is fit. It is the hometown of Marcin Gortat, a former NBA basketball player, it is place where started the careers of Adam Kszczot, the European champion and the vice-champion of the world in 800 m, Agnieszka Nagay, four-time Olympian in sport shooting, and Jerzy Janowicz, tennis player.

The longest sports traditions are those of two clubs - Łódzki Klub Sportowy and Widzew Lodz. Football teams of these two clubs have won the title of the Champion of Poland numerous times in their history. Apart from football, you can do other sports in Lodz, such as basketball, volleyball or rugby. Sports infrastructure is constantly being expanded to include new facilities. In 2018 a new modern speedway track was opned. In 2009 Lodz also got one of the biggest and state-of-the-art event venues in Poland, Atlas Arena. Five years later, Men’s Handball World Championship took place in it. In 2008, Aquapark FALA, one of the biggest waterparks in Poland, was opened, while 2017 saw the opening of the Sports Bay with one of the deepest swimming pools in Poland.

Those who do sports recreationally have at their disposal rope parks, climbing walls, trampoline park, toboggan run, skate parks, or water or wakeboard ski lift. It is also possible to go kayaking in Lodz, and since 2016, you can also take a ride on a Łódź Public Bicycle.
