The headquarters of the Museum of Independence Traditions is located at 13 Gdanska Street, in a former prison building constructed between 1883 and 1885. The tsarist prison was mainly used for political prisoners. A gallows was erected in the courtyard, where many executions took place. What is noteworthy is that despite the twists and turns of history, the building continued to function as a prison throughout the decades, even after the end of the Second World War.
