Fotofestiwal was launched in 2001 as one of the first photographic events in Poland. It was a spontaneous initiative of sociology students and lecturers. Since then, not only the photography has changed, but also the ways in which cultural events are organized. Fotofestiwal, however, is always the space for various forms and types of photography, a forum for discussions on art and society, motivation to seek alternative methods of talking about photography and its exposition. And most of all, it’s a meeting place.
The objective of the organizers is to create a space for the presentation of various forms of photography, a forum for discussions on art and society, and exchange of experiences of the artists with audiences. The exhibitions are complemented by workshops, lectures, and discussion panels.
The festival takes place in June each year.
