The construction of the biggest Evangelical-Augsburg church in Lodz began as far back as the beginning of the 20th century and it was initiated by the factory owners and Lutheran society. Before World War I, the temple started being used in raw state and its official opening in its finished state occurred on 1 November 1928.
The church was built in Neo-Roman style according to the design of “Wende and Klause” architect and construction studio and it makes a stylistic reference to the best examples of churches erected in Germany. The interior features a high architectural level. What draws attention are the galleries for the churchgoers situated on the three sides of the main aisle and the chandelier with 241 lights, which is the one of the biggest ones in the country.
The church has great acoustics and exceptionally interesting organ, which is why for many years it served as venue for the Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra’s concerts and now invites the churchgoers for organ music concerts.
The services take place every Sunday and holidays at 10:00. Everyone, no matter the denomination or religion, are invited to participate.
Church can be visited every day during the working hours of the parish offices, except for Mondays, after making phone arrangements at 42 684-66-72 (between 9:00 and 13:00). There is a fee for visiting.
