The National Centre for Film Culture

The National Centre for Film Culture (NCFC) is located in EC1 Lodz. The mission of this new institution is to popularise film culture. The NCFC is run by the City of Lodz and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The first two permanent exhibitions were opened to the public in October 2023: "Polonia Cinema" and "Matter of Cinema".

In the not too distant future, the NCFC will also house a three-screen cinema, consisting of a large 160-seat theatre and two smaller 49-seat theatres. All rooms will also be professionally equipped for lectures, conferences and meetings with artists.

The NCFC will also create a research studio with a multimedia library and archive, as well as television, sound, stop-motion animation and special effects studios. There are also plans to open a third permanent exhibition called 'Mechanical Eye', which will be presented in a post-industrial and steampunk aesthetic. This exhibition will focus on the development of film techniques in the context of the history of cinematography.

The National Centre for Film Culture will thus soon become the largest cultural, educational and exhibition centre dedicated to the art and history of cinematography in this part of Europe.
