Hostel is an accommodation usually of a lower standard than traditional hotel. Hostels differs from a hotel mainly in common areas and usually have more beds in one room. Hostels also have common areas available to all guests: a kitchen, and often even a shared bathroom. It is characteristic for the hostels to rent a bed instead of the whole room. Rooms in youth hostels are often shared, but usually there is also the possibility of renting a double or triple room. All this makes hostels cheap accommodation and willingly chosen by young people.
While in hostels we can spend the night in dormitory rooms, there are certain standards that such accommodation almost always meet. Free internet access, a common space with an available TV and game console, a fully equipped kitchen - these are the standards that most of modern hostels meet. Increasingly, we will also find towels in the rooms, the possibility of buying breakfast or accommodation in a private room with a bathroom. However, such facilities will be charged extra.
In Łódź you can find at least a few hostels that meet all the standards described above. In the vicinity of universities you will find such youth hostels as: Basecamp (16 Rembielińskiego St.) and Boutique Hostel (17 Stefanowskiego St.) - near the University of Technology. In the vicinity of the Medical University faculties there are: Hostel Umed (251 Pomorska St. - on the 13th floor, in the hospital building) and Chill Inn (70B 6. Sierpnia st. - near WAM University Clinical Hospital). More hostels are located nearby University of Łódź: Basecamp at 45 Rewolucji 1905 St. and GO Hostel - at the same street no. 48.
