The devil in the Łódź region? Why not?! According to legend, Boruta lived in the Łęczyca region and is associated with this area. His earthly home was the Łęczyca Castle and according to local stories, it still guards treasures hidden in the underground. The castle was built during the reign of Casimir the Great and often hosted Polish monarchs. Despite numerous attempts to save it after the Swedish invasion, it fell into ruin for many years. It is currently the seat of a museum. The collections mainly present archaeological and ethnographic memorabilia obtained, among others, from local excavations. The most popular Polish devil also has his own exhibition here. It presents several hundred exhibits with almost 200 sculptures of Boruta in his various incarnations.
The castle is worth visiting in the summer during the International Knights' Tournament. Knights' brotherhoods from Poland and Europe come here in droves to show off their skills during knight fights. Workshops and shows referring to medieval traditions are organised for visitors, and the entire event is decorated with stalls and stands of local artists
