Museum of Cinematography, the only such institution in Poland, is located in the palace of Karol Scheibler, the wealthiest industrialist of Lodz and creator of the industrial imperium of Księży Młyn. The beginnings of the Museum go back to the 1970’s; however, its independent activity began on 1 April 1986. During the period of adjusting the palace to its new functions, a compromise had to be reached between maintaining the original form of the interiors and creating new exhibition spaces. Thanks to this, we can admire both the rich collections related to the development of Polish cinematography and luxurious and lavish interiors where the “king of cotton” used to live.
Atention! The museum is under renovation until mid-2021! The seminar and cinema room operates independently.
