The more than 100-year-old seat of the University of Music in Lodz is one of the most beautiful and recognizable palaces in Lodz. It has entered - as a palace and park complex - the register of the Provincial Conservator of Monuments. The building was erected in 1904-08 for Karol Poznanski, one of the directors of the cotton products joint-stock company, son of the famous Lodz factory owner Israel Poznanski. The palace, built to a design by Adolf Zelingson, served as a residential residence until 1939. During World War II, the German Städtische Musikschule was located there. The building became the headquarters of the University of Music from the first moments of its existence, i.e. from the first weeks of 1945. The palace had a representative character, which was emphasized by the sumptuous interiors. The interiors impress with a variety of ornamentation with motifs from the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and modernist elements.
