First day in Łódź

We recommend starting the trip from Manufaktura. Once the second largest factory complex in Łódź, today a famous example of successful revitalization. The market square is filled with former factory buildings made of red brick, including the characteristic Manufaktura gate. Museum of the Factory is a place where you can learn everything about the history of Israel Poznański's factory, cotton production, listen to the work of the 19th century looms or take a Photo on the observation deck. The Museum of the City of Łódź is located in the former Poznański’s palace, were in addition to the history of the city, you can see the splendor in which former factory owners lived .Lovers of 20th and 21st century art are encouraged to visit the MS1, MS2 Art Museum. They are among the oldest museums of contemporary art in the world. The Collection includes world related by Łódź by Władysława Strzemiński and Katarzyna Korbo

After visiting the “city within a city”, the perfect complement to your first day in Lodz will be a long walk along the Piotrkowska Street. It is the longest promenade in Poland and the showcase of Lodz. Passers-by are surrounded by ornate facades of tenement houses and palaces: a more popular example is the Gutenberg Tenement House. Looking into the courtyards will be full of surprises, where you can find among others: Jewish sukkah (no.88). Some of the most interesting courtyards of tenement Houses in Lodz are Rose Passage (an installation by J. Rajkowska made of thousands of pieces of mirrors) and Birth of the Day (a courtyard filled with fairy-tale-fantasy paintings by W.Siudmak). When walking down Piotrkowska street it is worth watching your step, the Walk of Fame reminds you of the legend of “ Hollylodz “. While walking, we will albo encounter monuments of the Gallery of Great Lodzians and the teddy bear uszatek-one of the many characters of the Łódź Fairyland.

The pedestrian part of Piotrkowska Street ends with the so-called tram station "Unicorn Stable". It is distinguished by stained glass windows in all colors of the rainbow. The unicorn statue refers to the association of residents with this stop. There is a selfie spot next to it. At the end of the day, we encourage you to take an evening walk along Piotrkowska Street, among restaurants and bars. When we turn into Off Piotrkowska, we will come across the Ramisch factory, today an alternative space with café clubs, gastronomy and fashion.

Day two in Lodz

The second day, we encourage you to learn even more about history. Lodz was called the city of four cultures, as evidenced by the Jewish Cemetery, one of the largest in Europe. For those interested in the history of World War II in Łódź, we recommend a nearby memorial site - Radegast Station.

For lunch and dinner, we recommend going to Monopolis. This is a perfect example of the revitalization of former factory into a mixed-use facility. In addition to gastronomy, an art gallery, a theater and a museum, there are also office spaces.

Still remembering yesterday's image of Manufakura, it would be a shame not to contrast it with Księży Młyn. It is a former factory and residential complex, the largest in Łódź. Walking around the empire of Karol Scheibler, it is worth paying attention to the complexity of factory, residential and public buildings. The Scheibler Palace currently houses the Film Museum, the only one of its kind in Poland. For those who want to admire more palace interiors, gardens and art, visit the Herbst Palace Museum.

We have already met two cotton kings from Łódź, it's time for the third one - Ludwik Geyer and his White Factory, i.e. the Central Museum of Textiles. This is an ideal place to learn the secrets of the textile industry. The exhibition "City - Fashion - Machine" was honored with the Sybilla award. The Lodz City Culture Park is also part of the museum, where we will move to a street in Lodz from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Third day in Łódź

Lodz is not only a city of red bricks, but also a city of greenery. On the third day, wesuggest taking a break among nature and animals. Orientarium ZOO Lodz is a modern complex presenting animals and plants from the Southeast Asian region. The numerous attractions include: elephant houses (bathing takes place every day at 11:00), an underwater tunnel and a pavilion of nocturnal animals.

Near the ZOO there is the Botanical Garden, 67 hectares of green areas in the city. Walking around the garden, we can come across an alpine garden, a Japanese garden, an arboretum and even a historic country house surrounded by a garden dating back to the first half of the 20th century. In case of bad weather, the Palm House, founded in the times of the manufacturers, comes to the rescue. Regardless of the weather, it delights with a Mediterranean and tropical pavilion, a collection of cacti, as well as ponds with turtles and koi carps.

For those interested in learning and having fun, the EC1 Science and Technology Center will be a must-see. It is located in the revitalized EC1 power plant. It conveys knowledge about energy conversion, inventions, space and the microworld in an accessible and engaging way. EC1 also houses the most modern Planetarium in Poland. It is also impossible not to mention two attractions opening in October 2023. Center for Comics and Interactive Narrative will delight fans of comic books, video games and virtual reality. This is a place where nostalgia meets modern educational paths, including one inspired by the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The EC1 complex also houses the National Center for Film Culture, including: "Kino Polonia" - an interactive, multimedia exhibition about 120 years of the history of Polish cinematography. "Matter of Cinema" concerns the process of making a film. Visitors are given tasks related to selecting the cast, coming up with a title, a poster, etc. In the vicinity of the complex in question there is the Łódź Fabryczna station, where train travelers can end their visit to Lodz.
