Is it possible to see the exhibitions of Łódź museums for free? Absolutely! All You have to do is properly plan Your visit and check what site interests You in advance. You can find some clues below. Most facilities allow You to see only the permanent exhibitions for free - we, on the other hand, encourage You to take part in temporary exhibitions, workshops, concerts and other events.

MONDAY

Most of the museums are closed on Mondays, but from Saturday to Thursday the <link http://www.muzeumtradycji.pl/ _blank>Museum of Independence Traditions</link> by Gdańska Street 13 and its branch on the <link https://muzeumtradycji.pl/oddzial-stacja-radegast _blank>Radegast Station</link> (close to The Jewish Cemetery) can be visited for free. The first one presents the exhibitions related to the history of the prison on Długa (nowadays Gdańska) Street and the history of Polish independence movements between 1791 - 1921. The second one is a monument for the victims of Litzmannstadt Ghetto, created on the old railway station that was used for gathering human transports to death camps during the war. The exhibition inside presents the scale model of the Ghetto area and the excerpt from the Ghetto history.

TUESDAY

Usually the <link http://kinomuzeum.pl/language/en/ _blank>Film Museum</link> on Plac Zwycięstwa 1 has free entrance day on Tuesdays. Hovever, the museum is  now closed due to general conservation/refurbishment works and will remain so for plenty of months (renovation works start on 1st of July 2019).

Tuesday is a free admission day for most of the exhibitions of <link http://www.maie.lodz.pl/ _blank>Museum for Archeology and Etnography</link> on Plac Wolności 14. The museum presents a collection of numismats and archeological pieces from all over the world, as well as the etnographic exhibition called Grey as The Earth, Colourful as Memory.

WEDNESDAY

On Wednesdays You can see the permanent exhibitions of <link http://www.muzeum-lodz.pl/ _blank>Museum of The City of Łódź</link> for free. It is located in the most flamboyant palace of Łódź - the residence of Izrael Poznański (Ogrodowa 15 Street, entrance from Zachodnia Street). Apart from the exhibition called In The Common Courtyard: Łódź - The Melting Pot of Cultures and Religions You may see the Pantheon of The Great Citizens of Łódź, Izrael Poznański's office room and the scale model of former Old Town (so-called lost quarter of the city).

Wednesday is a free admission day to <link https://www.muzeum-lodz.pl/pl/muzeum-kanalu-detka _blank>"Dętka" - Museum of Sewer</link> which is open between May and October. Inside the old water tank there is an exhibition committed to the history of Łódź sewerage and pipeline system.

THURSDAY

Thursday is a free entrance day for the permanent exhibitions of <link http://www.muzeumwlokiennictwa.pl/ _blank>Central Museum of Textiles</link> on Piotrkowskiej 282 Street. Currently the offer of the Museum is limited to the reconstruction of a textile plant from the break of 19th and 20th century and the interactive Boiler Room with steam engine simulation. Because of the ongoing renovation works some parts of the museum can be temporarily closed from time to time and some pavillons may not be open for sightseeing. The houses of the Open-Air Museum of The Wooden Architecture of Łódź are not available as well (last update: 1st of September 2019).

FRIDAY

On Fridays all three branches of the <link https://msl.org.pl/ _blank>Museum of Art</link> have  a free entrance day. Its two main objects -  ms1 on Więckowskiego 36 Street (entrance from Gdańska Street) i ms2 on Ogrodowa 19 (Manufaktura) - show enormous collection of modern art works. The third branch, The Herbst Palace Museum on Przędzalniana Street 72, shows a set of living quarters and interiors typical for the Łódź industrial elite in the 19th century.
